Analysis of The Innocent Heart Longs

Imprisoned in my innocence,
A boy I am, so young and free,
Yet in this world of bleakness,
I find no escape, no reprieve.

My heart beats with a fervor,
As I dream of brighter days,
But the darkness seems to hover,
And my hopes soon fade away.

I yearn to taste the sweetest fruit,
To dance beneath the open skies,
But the walls that surround me mute,
My voice, my spirit, and my cries.

I see the world beyond these bars,
And wonder if I'll ever roam,
To taste the earth and see the stars,
And finally find my way home.

Yet still I cling to my innocence,
My heart ablaze with a love so true,
For I know that in this life, hence,
It is the one thing that will see me through.

So though I may be locked away,
And though the road ahead is long,
I'll keep my heart's light burning bright,
And never lose the lyrics of my song.

For in the end, it is the pure of heart,
That find their way out of the dark,
And though I may be worlds apart,
I know that I will someday leave a mark.
