Analysis of Goodnight To You

December marks,
A year that lapsed,
Since I got the call,
That you had collapsed.

Alone at home,
I sat on the floor,
And thought about the night before.

I do not regret what was said,
But I do regret not saying more,

As the next time I would see your face,
Would be in stillness,
At the morgue.

You cannot hear,
These words of mine,
For they are earthly,
And you – divine.

I will not ask God,
To relay my lines,
As there is no resolve,
For bided time.

Instead, I'll be glad,
For the exchanges we had,
For all the good,
And even the bad.

If time were charitable,
And reversed it's tracks,
Allowing me a pathway;
A way to go back,
That evening I would say,
Goodnight to you, Dad.
