Our Angel

In the beginning all we had was stone
Austere and frigid how it lacked all heart
As we chiseled away the truth was shown
And so you and I began making art

With the gentle hands of Corradini
In creating love we became immersed
We revealed truths and discovered meaning
Until from marble our angel emerged

Then once our masterpiece was completed
It stood in purity and free from lust
We couldn't agree on who should keep it
So we decided to turn it to dust

About this poem

Two strangers work in harmony. They speak to eachother and admit their small truths. As they do so, they chip away from the cold lifeless marble of unfamiliarity. As time passes, something beautiful emerges. From the cold stone, they create an angel - a love. This love is neither one's to own and, if they do not respect this, their only solution is to fall out of love and destroy what they toiled to create.
