Analysis of Oh Mister Trumpet
J. Michael Welborn 1970 (Alabama)
Oh, Mister Trumpet
How do the birds fly
And the trumpets reply
Was “Oh me, oh my”
First a C, Then a D
An F, A B
He says to me
“Now you see?”
Oh, mister Trumpet
What is a Mystery?
He replies with great glee
“Now listen to me”
Think high,
Think low
And your notes
Will follow
Think fast
Think slow
And away
You’ll go
The music you make
Is like the cake you bake
Start with your basic desire
And then go higher, and higher
