Analysis of O' to be a Poet

O’ to be a Poet
by: Adam N. Duran
(The Forgotten Poet)

O' to be a Poet
to venture the sea and ocean breeze for that stoic art.
to set the sails for that mythic whale, the world once knew so well.
though the course is set and tidings met; there is not an "X" upon our shore.
Still with hope in hand and a forgotten plan, may we stumble upon that distant land.

O’ to be a Poet
to journey past one's death, in wonder of the dreams that may be sent.
to riddle with the devil, one has not yet met,
or converse with angels on how the stars are masterfully set.
to gamble with God so as to pay life's debt.
while everyday feeling the agony of those who kissed the bride named death.

O’ to be a Poet
is to be a nobody as if one does not exist,
to create into words an epic verse… of love, horror and sin.
while crafting an art for the empty shadows in one's head.
knowing it's work that shan't be read… at least not till one is dead.

O’ to be a Poet
to get lost in that maze of metaphoric haze.
to stand with pen in hand over the feared minotaur.
and alas to best that beast of fabled lore, in an amazing feat of blood and gore.

O’ to be a Poet
to venture forth to that goblins market, or to quoth the raven's nevermore.
to ride alongside ‘the brave six hundred’... O’ to be a part of such lore.
to parlay with an ‘aged aged man.’
to write such poetry with a simple movement of the hand.

O’ to be a poet
putting into words thoughts never before heard.
To gaze into a starry night of rhythmic verse.
to ride the river of ink and quiver.
O’ to brave an empty page, to manifest the wisdom of a sage.
finding one's soul with tales untold.

O’ to search for wealth only to find an empty shelf.
to wish for fame to only live a life alone while at the halm.
to search for beauty even at one's lowest.
O’ how miserably grand it is to be a poet.
