Analysis of The pond.
Powder blue and yellow bodied -chasers dance like neon lights.
Flying, skimming, back and forth, shiny iridescent, bright.
One lands brushing, dipping, gliding over water cool.
Hovering with helicopter wings, on the olive algae pool.
Turquoise coloured Damselflies glow in verdant green grass.
Tiny bodies elongated, menacing hornet's noise , heard to pass.
Thirsty bees drink at edge, water boatmen suspended still.
Black beetles spin in frenzy, whirling, going nowhere, until.
I dip my net into the pond, breaks the glinting surface tension.
The pond's a lifeline on the hottest day, certainly worth a mention.
Blanket weed clumps lie scattered, in lime green mounds.
Insects land on it, relief, cooling, from cracked, baked hard ground!
Shadows, silhouettes of shading trees, Alder and Willows sway.
Dappled surface , hot sunlight, the pond alive, throughout the day.

About this poem
This is about a large pond in a field, I visited this Summer and found quite fascinating watching - a mini drama was taking place!
