I am single, live in the UK, in Dorset.I love the countryside and I am greatly inspired by nature, countryside, people and the seasons. I live with my parents at home. I enjoy writing about many topics and my poetry is mainly rhyming , free verse or haiku, or brevity and humour poems. I have always enjoyed poetry writing( and reading it) and I used to write poems, when I was a little girl at Primary school! It is great for getting your feelings and views across and is quite therapeutic!

The homeless man.

The homeless man.

I toss a few coppers and silver, they tinkle, into his tin.
Around me, is the racket of traffic and city "din",
I shudder as I walk away,
hoping someone will find somewhere quieter, for him to stay.

The city is hostile and...

PTSD

A young fit man, when he went off to war,

but as soon as I saw him, close that door,
I knew he would never be the same,
'cause war it ruins, wounds and maims.

When I saw him again, his hands trembled, shook,
his face looked haunted, with...

Let me go

Let me go, release me, like a flying kite.
Let me go, let me fade, like the day, turns into night.
Watch me sink, like the deep, orange setting sun.
For t'was a sunset of dreams, I once provided, for everyone.

Let me go, the person that I...

Cowboy tales.

They sat around the campfire, and talked about their yarns.
How one had chased young Billy Picket, out of Sheriff John's barns!
How they rounded 200 head of steer, 'cross Black Canyon pass.
How they nearly toppled over the ridge, driving them, en...

The hyena poem.

The Hyena poem.

The Hyena's lot was not a happy one,
they skulked about looking for food in the hot, bright sun.
Their appearance made everyone , shiver with disgust,
when their spotted forms arose, from out of sand and dust.

They were...

This poem is about a sad , old piano, which has been abandoned, outside to the elements. It is full of pathos and the imagery, is one of neglect and decadence.Yet, it still can muster a soulful sad tune, from it's keys.I found this poem a bit unusual, and being musical myself, I identified with it.I couldn't help feeling sorry for the piano!
There were many poems I wanted to select, but I had a job to narrow it down to this one.

This poem speaks to the heart. It is about a garden where someone was happy. After they pass away, they know their heart will remain there, because they know the owner will tend to and look after, that special garden. It is a poem full of emotion and feeling. It has good rhyme and flow and is a worthy winner.

Hi Soulwriter -I am really glad you liked my poem and thankyou for awarding it 5 stars!! I am deeply appreciative.Yes, homelessness, and rough sleepers are a big problem everywhere you go and I cannot help, feel sorry for these folk, who have feelings and needs too.My poem tried to convey this message. We in UK, have this problem and winter is the time, us folk, feel their desperation, especially at Christmas. I usually try and help, if I see anyone begging on the pavements. It's a a sad plight...
