Analysis of DARK SECRET

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

A dark secret of the night
Abominations roam the street,
Hunting for the unwary
Hoping very soon to feast.

Innocents hiding inside
As dreadful truths abound,
Monstrous creatures stalking
Around this loathsome town.

Piscine terrors swim round
In a neighbouring stream,
Beside a doom-cursed village
Where nothing is as it seems.

Devouring hapless fishermen
Or those foolish enough to swim,
In these blood-soaked waters
Which horrid beings live in.

A dark secret of the night
Avian fiends go sailing by,
Hunting for the uninformed
Who are all about to die.

Feathered fiends soaring
Through the evil atmosphere,
Searching for fearless souls
Unaware that death is near.

Prehistoric monsters
Which should be long extinct,
Roaming round and killing
Eating almost anything.

Roaming round the village
Thundering through the streets,
Questing every after for
Anything that they can eat.
