Analysis of Please

“Please” is the word I’ve been asked all my life.
“Please, stay strong.”
“Please, say you love me.”
“Please, be honest.”
And I never could let “please” mean anything to me.
It was too much of a burden, it has been misused greatly
By people who just want something out of me, to hurt me
Yet now, in my life, I find myself asking “please”
“Please, don’t leave me.”
“Please, tell me you’ll change.”
“Please, make things better.”
And it means nothing to the people I ask.
Please is just something you say before something else is wished
It is a cry for help, nothing but desperacy
Sure, it is polite in certain contexts
It can even be endearing.
But please is nothing but dehumanizing in most.
