Analysis of Film Festival
Thomas Molitor 1953 (Tacoma)
Unlike Cannes which happens once a year, this film festival happens every night. Here, there is no red carpet upon which gorgeous celebrities wearing strapless Armani gowns and Valentino tuxedos flash white Chiclets as smiles.
Here you will not find concierge services delivering
five-thousand dollar bottles of Cristal to a beachfront
suite wherein a has-been screenwriter pitches
a has-been script he hasn't been able to sell.
Here, rather, in these very private screenings, you will find abstract images superimposed over surrealistic narratives, dadaist non sequiturs, absurdist endings, unmixed music scores, car trouble, public nudity, crumbling teeth, wrong sex sex,
dead mother dialogue, missed school exams, nonworking iPhones, poor performances, spousal infidelity, chase scenes, and parasitic flesh eaters ~
all projected nightly and unsightly inside my frontal lobe theater.
