Analysis of Walk Circumspectly

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

You should not say
I’ll find no trouble today
I’ll just walk in peace
As I go on my way

Before the words even
Come forth from your lips
The demons are gathering
And making a list

They know all the trouble
You hope to avoid
And they’re forming a plan
So that you’ll be destroyed

Walk circumspectly in all of your dealings
Don’t make decisions just based on your feelings

Keep your eyes open
And look straight ahead
If you listen to men
It’s lies you’ll be fed

You must know the truth!
Before you start planning
Don’t be deceitful!
Don’t be too demanding!
