Analysis of Reify

gregg connolly 1956 (pennsylvania)

Family, the bedrock, we are best

Society on the crest, not like the rest

Supposed belief,  digested misconception

Presumed dogma, never inception.

Evidence of such, the rhetoric assures

Question this divination,  pyretic pitch soars

The proof is in the pudding, our children wither

parents somehow not in with being a tither

daycare, schools, and activities raped bare

yet not a care, how our children fare

Pay for the  future, are you insane

Life is about now, don’t be a bane

Will we ever truly love our spawn as one whole

And ensure their vitality, their spirit, their soul ?

About this poem

The american psyche is full of abstact tenets and dogmas that we believe but are not actually practiced, instilled or codefied into our culture or society. The belief in family is one such misconception we believe.
