Analysis of Girl by the Sea
Christina Canter 1987
A petite outline
Shrouded in the hungry night,
Her back turned, face to the sea
She stand silently
The wind prancing in her hair
What is she calling to?
Unafraid, she stand in solitude
Simply unmoving,
The crash of waves sing
A lullaby solely for her delight
She is terrifyingly beautiful
A creature admired,
Not meant for common eyes
Yet undeserving, I'm cast
A spot in her symphony
I sway
To her calling song
Unaware of my fixation
I preform a dance
Becoming a pawn to own
Her thirst for payoff is palpable;
I allow her direction to lead
As she orchestrates feverishly
Ready for the pinnacle to her masterpiece,
I am overtaken by the denouement
As deafening applause washes over me,
I fade into closing curtains
Wanting to drink her exquisite perfection
I gasp desperately for her acceptance ,
But I am engulfed by her rage.
