Analysis of Girl of Yesterday

Girl of yesterday
Remembered as thoughts of today
Her beauty, blurred from thoughts
of selfishness and hatred,
Shattered by greed and temptation,
Torn by sorrow and self-pity,
A strenuous exercise,
Like a toddler on a bike,
Remembering what is, and what was,
The girl from yesterday.

About this poem

A poem of unrequited love, I wrote this poem for a girl I once loved. She was one of my first big crushes and I had difficulty at the time moving on. I wrote this poem to convey my feelings of moving on and reflecting back on someone I would never love the same way again. I wrote this when I had heard of the old Poetry.com website.
