Analysis of The Darkness
Mary Helen Trujillo 1987 (Colorado)
There’s a darkness
that comes along every now and then
And forces us to see the truth we know within
Is it who we are?
Where we’ve been?
What we know?
Is it where we’re going?
How can I know, if I don’t listen?
We have to tune out before we can tune in
I’m never going to be the person
I dreamed of when I was ten
And I’ll never know what could have
or what should have been
All I know is me
All I know is now
The pain I hold inside is what holds me down
There’s a darkness
that comes along every now and then
