Analysis of Dear Ophelia

Is it cold in your river, Ophelia?
Do your milky eyes still see the light?
Can you still hear them singing your requiem dirge?
Has the water made you porcelain: fragile and white?

Ophelia, are you weeping?
Have your eyes betrayed you so?
Be calm now, sweet Ophelia,
You've not long to go.

Do you lay on your back, Ophelia?
Can you still see the piebald moon?
Or is your face beneath water?
Do the rocks tremble gloom?

Ophelia, can I come too?
Is your river big enough for two?
I'll hold your hand, lamb Ophelia,
Just tell me what to do.

Does the melancholic water  speak?
Can you hear the dark depths sing?
Is your hair fanned out like a halo?
Does Madness hold you and cover you by its wing?

Ophelia, I beg to you,
I beg and cry and plead,
Together we can slip underneath:
And of this cruel world, at last, be free.
