Analysis of Human Wickedness
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
Transgression speaks to the impish,
Deep in the heart there is no fear;
It loves tormenting to anguish,
Anyone who does revere.
He flatters himself in his eyes,
His iniquity is not found;
As his words are no longer wise,
Having with a deceitful sound.
He plots trouble while in bed,
Sets in a way that is not good;
Preferring of evil instead,
As immorally understood.
Steadfast love that comes from the Lord,
Flows down from Heaven through the clouds;
His faithfulness He does afford,
Of which His righteousness enshrouds.
His righteousness is like mountains,
His judgment is like the great deep;
That pours out like flowing fountains,
To quench the thirst of all His sheep.
How precious is His steadfast love,
The children of mankind take refuge;
And shielded by His wings thereof,
From the viciously poured deluge.
They feast abundantly in your house,
Drinking pleasures of their delight;
Pillaging and ravish your spouse,
Lamentation caused by their smite.
Through God is the fountain of life,
And in His light, we do see the light;
Giving hope being caused by strife,
For knowing as to what is right.
Continue within His steadfast love,
And worthy of an upright heart;
Not stopping the flow from above,
Allowing us to a new start.
Let not the foot of arrogance,
Nor the wicked hand remove me;
Rather to follow obedience,
To remain iniquity free.
