Analysis of Rub It In

What does a throbbed headache to get,
Prove?
To involve oneself in an argument.
Still to lose it over something stupid.
Making no sense to start.
From a beginning not ended.

'Go ahead.
Rub it in.'

'Rub what in?
I'm thinking out loud.
And besides,
Why would I want to do that anyhow?
I'm not the one with the headache.
Nor did I start a pointless argument.
Over nothing to leave me feeling,
Stupid!'

'Whatever you say,
I don't feel stupid.'

'Okay, have it your way.
You may not feel stupid.
But your face?
Has the look of fool all over it.
And to prove that,
Take a few steps and look in the mirror!'

'What kind of supporting friend are you?'

'The kind that supports the truth.
You refuse to use.
And certainly not that kind of friend,
Who tries to convince myself...
I can win a stupid argument.
Around friends walking away saying,
HOW DUMB CAN YOU BE!'

'I heard that.
And I saw you shaking your head.
I thought you stayed to support me?'

'I stayed because I was hoping,
You would get the message.'

'Message?
What message?'

'How stupid you were making yourself,
Look like a big fool.
And you know what?'
