Analysis of A LITTLE GIRL

She was such a very little girl
Just barely fifty-three,
Too small to go to school yet
Too big to sit on mama’s knee.

She was such a very little girl
Who loved to run and play,
Until the games came to an end
Upon that fatal day.

In Williamstown, she did live
‘Til in 76 or so she died,
And when we heard her awful fate
Even strong men surely died

Her father, Mr. Snedden
Had gone out for the day,
On that awful, dreary time
Black clouds soon led to rain.

Then smoke began to billow from
Their garage at the rear,
And so the firemen came out
Alerted by our fears.

A mother gone to ashes
Her daughter gone the same,
No more to fear for either
Upon that fateful day.
