SHADOWY FIGURES LURKING (I)

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

Shadowy figures are lurking
In a town now lost to fright,
Hunting through the alleyways
Immediately after twilight.

Shadowy figures stalking
Dark streets and alleyways,
Hunting for the innocent
To kill neath the moon's rays.

Shadowy creatures hunting
Through the dark and evil night,
Hoping soon to slaughter you
Before the first hint of daylight.

In the evil, mists of time
Shadow beings are out hunting,
Foul abominations slink past
Making an unEarthly grunting.

Within the twilit time
Dark monstrous being prowling,
Great canine terrors snarling
Giant feline beasts are yowling.

Shadowy figures are lurking
In a village now lost to fear,
As through the doom-cursed night
Malignant atrocities draw near.

Evil after midnight is out
Haunting this cursed town,
Where shadowy death lurks
And goodness never abounds.

Shadowy figures are following
The guileless are out walking,
Unaware danger approaches
As nefarious things are stalking.
