Analysis of LOCKED DOWN; LOCKED IN

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

When Dopey Dan shouts, "Lockdown!"
We find ourselves locked in,
With Link taking a holiday
They've knocked us on the chin.

Kayoed by Dan and Link
With my larder completely bare,
When I ask for succor
They say they won't come here.

"Get yourself a taxi, man
And pay right through the roof,"
They say, while almost laughing
In voices distant and aloof.

Without my medication
I beg them to take me there,
But saying, "No!   No!   No!"
It's plain they just don't care.

So on my measly pension
For a badly damaged back,
I'm paying for a taxi
'Cause Link's on the wrong track.

They should be there to help us
When Danny locks us down,
But instead, they're gallivanting
About the wrong side of town.

"No, we cannot help you
Because we just don't care!"
Is their sad admission as
The ugly truth is laid bare!

THE END
