Analysis of The Time Worn Path
Melody Moreno-Vazquez 1960 (Ashland)
I walk the time worn path to the graveyard....
To the place where my true love lies.
I kneel down on the ground
And place roses by the gravestone,
Then I hang my head and softly cry.
I can hear the sound
Of the universe going 'round.
All of the songs sung
Are like the stars among
The night's sky that are twinkling.
I run and I run to catch the sun
But no matter how fast, the sun is sinking.
Some days my eyes are clouded with tears...
And I imagine I see you standing here...
I am growing older...
You are growing colder...
But it helps me to know that you are near.
I dream that I could take your hand and you would stay.
You would come and again lay with me...
And love me, completely and tenderly.
I look at the roses
All their leaves have turned to brown.
I scatter them around the tombstone....
Where you lie alone.
And as surely your must be decomposing.
We did not have much time together and in it spend....
But I would do it all again.
However there are things I would not do.....
Like the fussing and fighting,
The constant nail biting,
The vim and the vigor for us..
Changed with your rigor mortis.
And I still cry silently for you.
