Analysis of In another life?
He doesn't text anymore
And neither does she
It's not that he forgot
And neither the fact that she didn't care
Rather it was this mutual understanding
This understanding that they couldn't be together
Not that they wouldn't work out or that their love would fade away
But it was the idea that this cruel world of divisions was no place for them
The idea that every splendid moment he had with her, was just adding to the memories they'd have to shatter
So, for this reason, he doesn't text anymore
And it kills him to do so everyday watching time slip away and the day of their divergence nearing
Yet he knows that within the empty corridors of his cold heart, her name ignites a little spark for a split second
It always will, he chuckles to himself- for this is love
Love of such kind where he chooses to endure the daily remorse of her depart which only deepens the void within
Still, he does this for he knows that there is no purpose in loving her, only for her to be taken away, possibly with a part of himself attached to her
"Perhaps in another life" he lies to himself every now and then, hoping in some parallel universe, they were each other’s forever, for not in this
But lately, that phrase only makes it worse, for even if they do meet, no trace of this life shall remain. Almost as if starting new
But an idea sparked within, the idea that on his death-bed, in his final minutes, he will re-think of her
Of the days they laughed and the nights they stayed up
For maybe, just maybe, it’ll be enough to carry their memories across the next life
He did all this for her, everyday
Yet he doesn’t text anymore
