Every now and then

He misses her every now and then
Not out of disappointment or contrition
But on the thought of all that they could’ve been

Despite being polar opposites of each other, they fit somehow
For he was somber and quiet yet observant
Keeping in mind his objectives and encountering them ever so strategically- close to the chest
She was vibrant and effusive, teeming with emotion and holding back nothing she felt within
Thoroughly enjoying each moment as life passed her through, unconcern about what tomorrow held

They weren’t the match made in heaven
But heaven resided when they met for even the stars envied the spark in their eyes
He knew she was the one
And she knew he was the one
But now, remains one

One soul of his that wishes death upon himself every day just so they’d meet again
One soul who grew ill as nothing fazed him any longer
For he would set the world on fire but wouldn’t let a flame touch her

It was always us against the world, he’d remind himself
For now, he had the world and all its riches, since his objectives of acquiring power were complete
Yet the world he may have won, but HIS world was long gone since the day she died

Now he has but one objective
The objective of going home where he belonged
The objective of maybe, just maybe seeing her again
“Until we meet again”- kept him going
