Analysis of THE SEEKER (II)
Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)
Seeking misery
The Seeker comes to town,
Revelling in disaster.
As people's lives fail
The Seeker grows stronger
Enjoying their heartache.
Seeking the lonely
To watch them die from despair,
The Seeker salutes.
As good people die
The seeker celebrates
In his own quiet way.
Seeking the wretched
Rejoicing in their failure,
Revels in their death.
Watching tired losers
Flushing their lives away,
The seeker smiling.
Unaware of him
The hard-up walk straight past,
Shivering as they near.
Devastated folk
Hoping to rebuild their lives,
Dies as he goes past.
As Christmas draws near
No-one dares to revel,
The Seeker is in town.
