SIEG HEIL TO THE CHIEF

Phil Roberts 1957 (Melbourne)

"Sieg Heil to the Chief!" they shouted four years ago
When Donald Dummy came goose-stepping along,
America's first completely insane president
Came high stepping, singing the Horst Wessel Song.

Donald Dummy said, "Democracy must die!"
And die indeed it did in four short years,
As he outlawed the truth in America
Marching with that evil song ringing in our ears.

"Sieg Heil to the Chief!" Donald Dummy proclaimed
"Sieg Heil to the Chief!" the evil fascists cried,
Marching around the capital wearing black shirts
"Sieg Heil to the Chief!" and democracy died.

Donald Dummy was well and truly chuffed
That America was dumb enough to vote him in,
Unaware of the war crimes that he would do
Unaware of the evil ways that he would sin.

"Sieg Heil to the Chief!" Donald Dummy said
Marching around the capital like a big-head,
"Sieg Heil to the Chief!" evil Nazis shouted
"Sieg Heil to the Chief!" now democracy is dead!

About this poem

Another of my anti-fascist poems. Although, it can be sung, so perhaps I should say, song lyric.
