Analysis of Girls
Kelly L. Hanna 1982 (Philly)
Two Girls walked down the street...
Both were kind. Both were sweet.
The secret though, that they keep....
The cost would not be cheap.
So they whisper and they weep.
They curse the bread, go without the meat.
This is a defeat and they feel weak.
Together they creep and secretly sleep....
But they won't go quietly.
No, they won't go silently.
And they won't go violently.
So they sew their mouths
And they shear their hair.
They shut us out.
They just don't care.
Oh, the secret that they share!
And this life just isn't fair...
The crowd will leer.
The time is here.
Night will fall
To reveal their fear,
Once and for all.
The curtains draw.
The crowd's in awe,
The girls, gripped with fear.
It was no secret at all.
Applause is what they hear.
