Analysis of Mainstream Poetry Set #003

ALL IS CLEAR (16/05/2021)
Anticipate the unknown
Picture the unknowable,
Soon all will be clear.

CURSED? (15/05/2021)
Am I truly cursed?
Or merely a loser who,
Never shall succeed?

ALL AROUND THE WORLD (21/11/2008)
Nice to see haiku
From England, South Africa,
China, India....

THE ARMAGEDDON
A war to end war
A war to end life itself,
Right across the Earth.

AUTUMN LEAVES
Autumn leaves falling
Winter around the corner;
Big freeze soon to come.

AUTUMN RAINS
Autumn rains fall
Light drizzle just a promise,
Of deluges to come.

AZURE EYES (I)
Hair of spun gold and
Eyes of the richest azure,
Captivates my heart.

BIASED OLD EDITORS (23/05/2009)
Biased old editors
Think they know everything,
Know little in truth.

THE BLACK WOLF (I)
Black as night he stood
Beneath the moon’s bright glow, a
Wolf with hungry eyes.

BLISS (a senru)
Domestic bliss:
Woman’s work goes on and on;
Man must be the master!

BORROWED MOMENTS
The borrowed moments
An edge to reality,
Where nothing is real.

THE BREATH OF THE STORM
The breath of a storm:
Like anguished screams of the damned,
All your nerve ends raw.

CARAMEL EYES
My lover’s eyes are
Like the warmest caramel,
And they melt my heart.

THE CHEETAH (I)
Sixty miles an hour
Runs the deadly feline,
To bring a zebra down.

CHESTNUT HAIR
Hair of rich chestnut
Eyes the deepest, warmest brown,
Firing up my heart.

COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN (I)
Now that love is dead
You both worship hatred,
Wishing each other harm.

A DAY IN OLD MELBOURNE TOWN (15 June 2008)
Autumn, winter, spring,
Then summer: all in one day
In Old Melbourne town.

DEATH CONQUERS ALL
Death will conquer all:
All your fears and all your pains;
Miseries of life.

DEATH MUST GO ON
No-one can harm me
Death holds no fear for me;
I only fear living!

THE DELUGE (I) (Summer Deluge)
A summer deluge
Half drowned Chihuahua struggles
In surging waters.

THE DINGO
A large yellow dog
Now branded a killer by,
Those who mistrust him.

DIVINE ARMAGEDDON (II)
Far above the Earth
Dissension among the gods,
Causes Armageddon.

DIVORCE
Emotions rise when
feelings are hurt.  And spiteful
things are said and done.

DO BANSHEES PLAY TENNIS? (10/01/2009)
A question I must
ask: do banshees play tennis?
Or just girl players?

THE DOCUMENTARY
A borrowed image
Of some near-forgotten past,
That you never lived.

DOORS TO THE SUBCONSCIOUS (I)
Dreams are doors
to the subconscious: Portals
to other realities.

DREAMS
Truth is hard to bear:
Now your love has flown the coop,
Dreams are all you have.

DRINKING WINE SPO DEE OO DEE (I)
In 1949 The 1st rock
and roll song was recorded!
What was it called?

EACH AND EVERY DAY (11/11/2008)
Each and every day
There’s one thing I can count on,
Jesus will be here!

EBONY EYES (I)
Full of dark mystery
Her eyes call with a promise,
Of savage love.

ECSTASY
Now that love has gone
You find that ecstasy was,
All too frail a dream.

ELECTRIC BLUE EYES
Electric blue eyes
Sparkling like living sapphires,
Burn into your heart.

ELEPHANTS
Elephants lumber
Through the grassy savannahs;
Nature’s armoured tanks.

EMERALD EYES (I)
Green eyes sparkling
Like the brightest emeralds,
Captivate my heart.

ENDLESS HEARTACHES
Endless heartaches that
You still feel today; will feel
Till the day you die.

ENERGY VAMPIRES
Even the ones you love
Sap your strength and health,
Just like vampires of old.

A FLOWER SHRIEKING (19/10/2008)
A flower shrieking
In its death agony as
It is being plucked.

FLUFFY CLOUDS ABOVE
Fluffy clouds above
Lying on my back I watch,
As the clouds pass by.

FOGHORNS IN THE NIGHT (I)
Foghorns in the night
Blare out eerie warnings of
Dangers yet unseen.

GALES OF DESPAIR
Borrowed dreams: Dreams that
Were long ago blown away,
By gales of despair.

GARFIELD
Ginger tom kitten
Named for a cartoon hero,
Cute yet rarely good.

GIVE THANKS (02/11/2008)
Give thanks to the Lord
Who helps us all of our lives,
In every way.

THE GREAT ARCHITECT (III)
God of old Chaldee
Joined with great Osiris,
To lead a modern sect.

HEARTACHES LINGER
Heartaches lingering
Despair keeps tormenting you;
Eating at your heart.

HELP ME (11/11/2008)
The Lord does help me
He does help me through the day;
Without failing me.

THE HIPPO
The hippo waddling:
Clumsy on dry land, yet
Regal in the water.

HOLLOWNESS (I)
A hollow feeling
In your heart and in your soul:
Love is far away.

HORROR HAIKU (II)(22/03/2009)
Can haiku have horror themes?
According to many, “No!”
But who says, “Yes!”

HOW A HAIKU WORKS
How a haiku works:
One to twenty-nine syllables;
Between one and four lines!

I CAN NEVER BE LONELY (WHILE JESUS WALKS BESIDE ME) (02/11/2008)
I’m never alone
While Jesus walks beside me,
Jesus walks by me!

ICY STEEL SCIMITARS
Snow on the sidewalk
Shivers run through you like,
Icy steel scimitars.

THE END
