From Ancestor to Descendent

There was an Elimbari man
He decided to leave
His home for a much better home
So soon he had to leave

He left for the Wahgi river
He reached the river’s edge
He hastily cut down a tree
By the wild river’s edge

The night air
Gripped me
Like an old man’s
Frail and pitiful arm

This heart
Cracked and bled
Within
Refused to heal

I’ve walked this road
Before
Only now
My feet refused
To take a step forward

My spirit slumped
And fainted
