Portrait of Dad

Small in stature, he stood tall
Above the high and mighty
He had nothing, yet he had all.

Dad was a man who gave.
When there was nothing left,
He gave of himself, so we could have.

Tears nor anger were never part
Of the shades he...

In Celebration of 90 Years

You are the rock to which we cling
When tide would sweep us far,
A golden ray of hope you bring,
A guiding light you are.
A pillar through all of ninety years
Strengthened by mind and soul,
And a heart of gold that bears
Compassion and love...

Who Would I Be

Who Would I Be

If I were a fly on the wall
Invisible, I could hear and see it all.
Not that I could care less,
A fly is such a pest!
I would rather just be me.

How would it feel to be a dove ?
A symbol of peace and love.
Just to fly and...

Mom‘s Tattered Prayer Book

This was her greatest treasure
In which she found much pleasure.
A tattered book of prayers
Read faithfully throughout the years.
Sitting silently upon her bed,
This book of prayer she devoutly read.
Every morning and night religiously,
...

The poet was able to express his feelings of empathy for the less privileged and would always be a friend to the poor even unto death.
A well written poem with good rhyme and rhythm .

Well written and tells a moving story that only the unknown soldier has experienced. Amidst the annual pomp and ceremony to honor these “unknown souls”
one must wonder if it will ever be enough for the sacrifice they have made. The poet, through the eyes of the unknown soldier from the grave communicates this with empathy.

Well written with good rhythm. The poet captures the attention of the reader who gets a good view of the surfer and is excited to know the end result. A great story of a challenge and the positive attitude of someone who was defeated but hopeful.
Well done!

Well written! The poet left a vivid picture of the devastation war bings and the emotional toll it takes on soldiers. This poem evokes a feeling of sadness in the reader and the conviction that for many the war still rages on and the need for better mental healthcare. Veterans should not have to feel the need to ease their mental pain alone.
