Memorial Day

Because of you
we can get up every morning
and go to work
run errands at lunch time
drive through McDonald’s
fill up our gas tanks
and make it back to work
just in time

Because of you
we don’t have houses
we have homes
where we walk...

Moonlight in the Sea

Hair the color of saffron
undulating slowly
capturing the sunlight
entangling pearls in her curls
mesmerizing

Surrounded by life
bursting around her
some billowing with the ebb and flow
in time with her glorious hair

I really enjoyed this, Methmi. I am enchanted by mermaids myself. You’ve done a good job describing what she must feel - everything her family’s told her, what life is like to her, her dreams and wishes. You’ve painted a clear picture here - nicely done - good write!

I just love this, Skies O’Blue! I’ve always been a dog person but my son showed up one day with a little furball and pulled me right out of depression with his purrs. You have captured what a cat is to the world with your warm and pleasant word choice. You have a knack for rhyme that I envy - that seems to come so naturally to you and is something I just don’t do (hey, did I just rhyme?!?! LOL). This piece is well written and makes the reader feel the warmth and enjoy the fun that is having a cat. The last two lines are stellar!!
