Maruful Islam is a leading Bengali award-winning poet and writer of our time. He was born in Bangladesh on 29 March 1963. Rafikul Islam is his father and Anowara Begum is his mother. He passed his bachelor’s and master’s from Dhaka University in bangla language and literature, with a first place. He has done his PHD in economics. He has received the Rashtropati award in honour of his educational life in 1986. He worked as a teacher in Dhaka City College and Dhaka University for some time. Then Maruful Islam joined in the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1991, and resigned in 2015. He started his writing carrer from 1981: poems, songs, rhymes, essays and critics. He traveled parts of Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. Songs, books, movies and chatting with friends are some of his favorite things. He has received the Bangla Academy Literary Award 2017 for his poems. Also received the Agrani Bank- Shishu Academy Shishu Shahitto Award 1823 for his rhymes.
