I've always had a fascination with words since High School.. In regards to "poetry" my favourite style is the Haiku! I wrote my very first haiku poem whilst in one of my favourite English Teacher's class! He was very inspirational to me and supported me in every way! While being in his class, I grew to have a passion for Shakespeare! One of my mentors and heart's inspiration! I still believe to this day that "King Lear" is by far his BEST tragedy EVER written! While in College, my boyfriend at the time took me to see this famous play in Stratford, ON to "experience" this magnificent play! Oh, how I LOVE the Theatre! Edgar Allan Poe is also one of my most treasured poet/writers of all time as well-he transfixes me! As well, my Nina Lee- my most beloved "nana" in all the world- (unfortunately, I lost her while I was 17 in High School! :( )- was my "saving grace" and one who loved me Unconditionally! I got her furor for reading romance novels- you'll probably laugh- Harlequin Romances!-at a very young age. lol.. I guess they kept me going throughout the years (I was a child of the Children's Aid at the tender age of 6- long story)to "get through the tough times" of growing up without a Nuclear Family-and my Nana- along with reading my beloved books that my Nana doted on, I guess, made me feel close to her! My other point here I'm trying to make is that she influenced me Greatly in having a thirst for knowledge/reading avidly .(I'm also a BIG fan of Agatha Christie Mysteries!) I was quite good at "solving" her works at a young age: ie: her famous book: The one that was alleged to be her most challenging mysteries to solve was: "The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd"- and I solved it far before the ending was upon me- call it intuition- what you will, I was good at it and I recall I was in High School when I read it!I think I have almost all of her mysteries- that I have collected over the years! Trust me,my library of books(not just her's) is EXTENSIVE! From the encouragement from my Nana to read avivdly- I developed my own pathways of discovery of what "turns my crank" as reading material! Bless you Nana- You are my heart! I will eternally love you for all you did for me! I looked to my teachers in High School as "role models"(parent subtitutes) to make it through the "hard times" and to have a "reason to live"! I am an avid believer (actually am quite a very Spiritual/Philosophical person) that, "What doesn't Kill you, makes you STRONGER!" Because, as Elton John said: "I'm still standing!!" Hence, I learned how to be a "survivor" and be very independent at an early age! I made quite a few close bonds with my teachers in H.S.. I have fond memories of Sue Ramey- my favourite English teacher-next to Mr clift that I was making reference to re: haiku/Shakespeare... In fact, in Mr Clift's class I wrote the best essay on King Lear in his class! I'm Proud of that feat! God bless you: ALL of my ROLE MODELS in my lifetime.. You get your "parenting" in many ways! :) May the Journey of self-discovery continue! "if you're still here, your mission isn't completed!" I'd like to take a moment too, to thank all of the many "inspiring" Poets and Poetess' that I have had the privelage of "learning from about life" on this site! I want to make a special honorable mention/acknowledgement to my good friend- and I believe, alot of you out there are becoming Quite Quickly aware of her awe-inspiring talent: Ms. Ashley Hutcherson- who I have had the privelage of meeting "elsewhere" before I have become an active member (I was in the archives first in 2001 before they changed this site)again on this new-improved site! I love you dearly,Ashley! :)Oh, btw.. I have one of my poems published by Poetry.com in two of their books(they made an editing mistake and I got the 2nd one free) when I first arrived on this site, called: "True Reflections" and "In The Quiet Hours". The poem in question is called: "Reflections: The Winter Knows". I truly DO believe: "Everything Happens For A Reason"! Thanks all for dropping in to take a peek into "My World"! :)NOW LET'S ALL HAVE SOME FUN WITH THIS AND SHARE OUR GOD GIVEN TALENTS! GOD BLESS! :)
