Eloya Somaine is the pseudonym birthed by a young woman named Elspeth Chimedza. She is a Zimbabwean-born writer, poet, spoken word performer, editor in chief, and creative consultant. Her creative writing work began at the tender age of eleven when she penned her first song. Academically sharp, especially in the English language, she was a semi-finalist in an international writing competition titled "World Press Photo" in 1999. She won several academic prizes in creative writing, English language, and art during her primary school days. Her first piece of poetry was written at age fifteen and was titled, "Infatuation." This was the birth of a poet that the world would come to know as ' Eloya Somaine '—the African writer with an exotic name. Elspeth is a published poet with publications including Silent Voices (Society Of Young Nigerian Writers) 2013, Silent Drums 2013, Madzongo Endyaringo Shona Poetry DVD (CHIPAWO & Zvavanhu Trust) 2013.
