Distress Call

My friend you're in distress,
Please give me your position.
I'll leave here right away
And fight off opposition.

I will come to your rescue swiftly,
But you're lost and know not where.
Then find some way to signal me
With light or fire or flare.

Should I reach you in a mess
To find you amidst a war,
I'll take up arms and fight along,
Since that's what friends are for.

If I find you held captive,
I'd gladly take your place.
For me it is a simple choice
There's far worse things to face.

So dear friend when you call out,
I’ll promise to come through.
For you are very dear to me,
It's what all true friends do.
