Old tyme courtesy.

Old tyme courtesy.
Today I saw a fella who, touched his cap when he saw me,
it used to be fashionable and  as polite as `afternoon tea`,
this lovely old time courtesy has all but gone from our view,
-it is still observed by gentlemen who, these days, are few,
I `purr` when it happens –seemingly insignificant, yet so big,
such a welcome change from those who `couldn’t give a fig`
about their appearance or how, in the public arena they act,
part of the demise of caring, in current society, this is a fact,
self respect and regard for others` needs no longer does exist
for many-instead of `agree to disagree`-it`s sorted by `the fist!`
However, there are, thankfully, still, those who do care,
they’re not at all happy to idly stand, mock and just stare,
this once great country, when much was sacrificed for all-
values slowly being eroded, like majestic cliffs that do fall
into the ever impatient  and uncaring, encroaching ocean,
how I yearn for those times, long gone, but I’ve got a notion
that for some this consideration will, thankfully, ever endure
and flourish and the pendulum of life will swing back for sure.
