Coffee

There are a few things I did today
waiting in the designated room just to be looked at and maybe seen for a bit
hearing this Christmas music playing on the low
a faint little imagery taking over with each bounce
when my legs felt light enough to sweep me off the third floor and into the sky where I tend to stay afloat

I did things today
I held down my grounded ego, holding on to the chair
before reaching for my hand to keep it steady
before the floor joined my body in the shaken parade

I counted to 5,  almost in another realm
but the lady called my name,
I slid back in through the chest
walking in the office, never quite ready
before I knew it, I was within and without the flow
heart longing for rest

I did some things today
chewed on my iced coffee
because old habits are hard to melt
raindrops dropped to find shelter on my face only to drip down and fade into wet cement
as I chewed on my drink,
waiting for the ice to chip down enough to let the cold take over like the rain
