Hold (Short Version)

I grieve for what isn't mine

For what was never mine

He was never mine.

I grieve during the day

I grieve at night

And even in my dreams

I cannot escape a reality that was never meant to be.

How can one human being have such hold over another.

One of such force and relentlessness.

He still walks the earth, but is long gone from my life.

He's fine. I'm fine.

He's content. I'm content.

He's happy in his only little world.

A world without me, without a single thought of me.

So why can't I let go?
