Gifts of sterling silver
Two bands of precious gold
Vows and promises spoken
Each other to have and to hold

The future stretched out before us
Neither one knowing what was to be
What path did we take to get here
Was this the plan for you and me

The hands of time moved swiftly
Our future is now the past
Who knew in the embers of passion
Loves fire was to hot to last

Tarnish has covered the silver
Bitter sweet memories left to hold
Vows and promises broken
Loves ashes long turned cold
