Bad News

Bad News

Pain pain go away
We do wish that everyday
For it’s not just death that causes the grief and makes it rain
Don’t forget it’s the bad news that causes most of the pain

It’s bad news they say
It’s mad how them two words make us pray
Our hearts stop beating
But yet we’re still breathing
For we do just imagining what they’re going to say

Here we go again it’s the big C
Our first instance is I make us a cup of tea
The bad news is broken
Our bodies go unspoken
And our minds will just disagree

The candles are lighting
While our loved ones are fighting
All we can do is to be positive and hope
As we do ask for the strength to cope

It might feel now that I am miles away
I can tell you now the days are so grey
Please know you’re not alone
I am always here on the phone
For we are lucky with our family that we love to the bone

So until I return
I need you to stay strong
Remember it’s a big favour
For that me and the family
Will always be your lifesaver

Glen Brennan

In the space of a month I lost a close member to Cancer, my little cousin and Uncle have cancer and another uncle who is a father figure was told that he might have cancer as they are awaiting results to confirm all back at home in Ireland. I am stuck in Australia due to Covid-19, so I decided to write a poem expression how I feel and let my family know I am there for them more…
