Today my people celebrate,
The Beautiful Bangla New Year.
1419 the date,
Elements seeping in colour and cheer.
All mixed, all elaborate.
All sincere.
Today, ushers renewed hope,
Renewed expectation,
Resolutions, abstinence and unspoken oath.
Today's a magnificent celebration.
The magical moments begin at sunrise,
The welcome songs of "Aso Hei Boishak".
A New Year - what a surprise!
"Boishak" the first Bangla month
"Aso Hei" Come heather........
Senses up an inner spark!
Come heather, Come heather.
The seasons await.
To many a sweet sentimental tunes
With carnival in joyous cheer
The walk down the street
Welcome Summer!
Yet, another leap.
Another feel of cultural bond,
Traditional props and traditional songs.
Mix the air, with splendid flair.
Some pieces etched at heart,
1419 too will soon depart.
