Waking Up

after the monsters, the sheets
clenched in fists -
heard the cat on the roof, the
men examining the yard, the men
in the yard in black, the man
in the red who made his own
chimney, I heard the wind
beat the glass in and my ears
beat the glass back, the men
in the yard in the black hiding
in the trees, hiding in the
sheets clenched in fists
after the monsters
