Waiting For a Letter

I am thousands of miles from my home,
missing my family I have left behind.
Mom, Dad, my brothers and sisters, friends,
I wonder what they have been doing.
All of my friends have been getting mail,
but I wait and wait, but none for me.
Does my family not think of me while I'm here?
I keep hoping that one day at mail call
I will have even a card just to say "Hello".
I am waiting and waiting for a letter
I wouldn't mind if it was from a stranger.
Just a line to say you are in our prayers,
or I am proud you are fighting for our country.
Maybe one of these days I will be lucky,
and a letter will be addressed to me.
It would be a great feeling to have them call out your name,
hold up a letter and it's for me.
That would be something I hope happens soon.
Can someone please send a letter to me to let me feel
like what I am doing is important to someone.
