Turn the Knife



The knife plunges into my heart
cold spreading out
with a twist of the knife
the emptiness builds
my heart stops
my breath catches
another turn of the knife
and a part of me dies
the darkness pulls at me
one more turn of the knife
the light fades
my sacrifice complete
one last turn of the knife
my soul grows cold
sacrificed on the alter of another
