These Wings of My Imagination
I saw an eagle flying boldly in the night,
It seemed but a dream, yet I was wide awake,
Crawling clouds loomed all around me,
Yet stars shined through like flashlights
pointing me to patterns of heavenly homes.
I pondered for a moment,
Struck by luck of sighting the black eagle,
Whose very wings wandered the speckled skies,
In search of meager meals or a new nook to call home.
Oh wanderer of the sky, do you not see me here?
Can you not take me with you to fly amongst weathered wanderings?
The questions blanketed me like clouds,
Though no answers came, a calmness surrounded me,
Like mist does mountains.
Perhaps the eagle was a sign to fly away,
Into the very chasms and canyons of my mind,
Where my wings are made of imagination,
and my heart, but a weathered rock amongst the storm.
