The SandBox

Even now, I can still remember....
Placed in the corner of the room,
a little blue bucket
lying carelessly amongst the golden grains.
Limited infinity, countless sand
constrained in a box,
incomprehensible to the three year old
that used to play there,
whose only interests were the bright colours
and strange taste.

It is many years since I was three,
and the only sandbox I have now,
is the one in my head.
I use it in many ways, burying things
I would rather not remember, and
building castle dreams
that somehow always seem
to fall down.
