The Pain of Losing My Shaane

I smiled at your tiny face,
and I heard your very first cry.
I put you to my bosom to feed
until the day drew nigh.
Inside your crib I rocked you,
I sang as you, I bathed.
You grew to walk, and talk and laugh,
And shine lucky stars every day.
Those days have gone, my Shaane.
I long for your sweet silly voice.
The times have changed, and our places
rearranged, and my heart can no longer
rejoice, but my hope doesn't wane to find
you someday, and hold you in my arms
again and never let go.
Though a man you should grow,
those the days have gone.
I love you, my Shaane.
