The Noose
You just left me hanging here,
without a single, solitary care;
twisting and dangling there,
as if it were a double dare.
Just hanging from the rafter,
a growing thought of laughter;
swinging here, for ever after,
becoming my soul's master.
You left me hanging all along,
as you sang your happy song;
swaying around, as if I belong,
believing I was always wrong.
Just left me hanging around,
believing me as your clown;
suspended alone, no crown,
you could have cut me down.
