Telluride in December

Sound, here, is like a pinball
Flinging itself boldly
From cliff to cliff
Gracing the sheer rock face
With its resonance
Only fleetingly to gain momentum
"Now I know why they call it 'See Forever'"
I shouted across the knee-deep
White powder to you
I looked past the San Juans
Through to the heart of Utah
"I don't think I could possibly be any closer to God right now"
(If I believed in Him)
But I sit in the clouds
Watching the tracks disappear beyond me
At the base of the mountain
Where my parents sit drinking in their coffee
And my sister licks the whipped cream off the top of her Swiss Miss
