Still Frame

I've never felt so,
so small and alone
staring at myself
in moments long ago
Memories caught
perfectly imperfect
in moments fleeting
yet forever haunting
of what used to be
Hopes and dreams
shine through in frozen eyes
but the blue has grayed in my skies
regret like crumbs forever remain
Seems like we live stronger
in the peace of a photograph
reminiscing in glorious past
unjaded by the current future
So brighten your day
sitting there in your despair
take a moment, capture yourself
in black, white, and gray
let it lift your soul
hold your still-self safe
clutch it against your broken heart
and picture yourself whole again
